Digging Into the Treasure Trove: Histories and Insights
The AboutSF and Center for the Study of Science Fiction sites have all kinds of treasures hidden away, just waiting to be unearthed.
This week, I want to point out the wealth of essays written by Jim Gunn, Chris McKitterick, and others.
Jim's essays are an education in themselves: The Protocols of Science Fiction, a reflection on how readers of speculative fiction approach these works differently than readers of other genres; or Teaching Science Fiction, discussing the need for and challenges in creating courses about this genre.
While it can seem intimidating following Jim Gunn, if you have your own essays and thoughts to share, go to our Write About SF page and send us 500 or so words about speculative fiction.
